Viewers can watch a sports game in the FOX Sports virtual reality app and invite friends to their virtual suite through Facebook

The FOX Sports virtual reality platform places viewers into a private suite they can explore while a sports event plays out on a large screen in the center. LiveLike, the company behind the app, wants to add to the experience by allowing viewers to invite friends who also have the service to watch the game in a shared virtual suite.

To use the app, a viewer connects their account to their Facebook and joins a room with their Facebook friends or hosts a room open for anyone to join. In the suite, streamers appear as basic avatars, which can customized with their names floating above their heads. Everyone in the suite has the ability to move around, explore or sit down to watch the game. A viewer could also join the room through a smartphone without the need for a virtual reality headset.

This service was released for the CONCACAF Soccer Gold Cup in July. LiveLike may not add the social feature to every game broadcast in the app but hopes to include it in as many as possible.
