Anouk Wipprecht is working on a dress that lights up every time their heart beats, revealing their private emotions for everyone to see

Dutch designer Anouk Wipprecht developed a dress that lights up in sync with the wearer’s heart beat. Wipprecht calls the dress Synapse.

The lights blink every time the wearer’s heart beat. Meaning if they get nervous or scared, their heart starts beating an edge faster to cause the lights to flicker at a quicker rate. This could mean when someone the wearer finds attractive approaches them, the person would immediately know as the lights on the dress would start to blink more quickly than usual. If this type of clothing trend caught on, clothing could reveal the wearer’s emotions they would otherwise prefer to keep to themselves.

The Synapse dress was developed by Wipprecht in partnership with Intel’s New Devices Group.
