Music fans interested in discovering new bands can watch them perform in miniature through augmented reality

How do the cool kids find out about new bands these days? A new app called Firstage wants to make it possible to discover new music through augmented reality.

To use the Firstage app, a user first needs to download the printable augmented reality stages from the Firstage website. These paper stages act as a focus for the AR artists to perform on while their music comes through the app. They can be placed anywhere, from a kitchen counter to the top of a coffee thermos for someone to watch on the train to work.

With the stage set, the user chooses from the list of artists currently playing on the app, whose likenesses come to life. Users get to watch the type of performance normally reserved for concerts, and artists have the chance to reach out to new fans while also making a little money.

Firstage is available on Google Play and in the Apple store.
