Life Clock doubles as a sleek home accent and a life-saving object

SWNA is the latest firm in the groundswell of designers who are conceptualizing products that incorporate emergency and disaster preparation. SWNA created Life Clock, a sleek, modern clock featuring a flashlight, heat blanket, emergency contact card, compression bandage, whistle and a disaster safe manual.

Life Clock was designed in consultation with experts in disaster relief and emergency services, and is meant to be an on-hand kit that blends with your existing interior decor.

“When I had to replace the battery on my watch at home, I noticed there was a lot of extra space,” the designer Sukwoo Lee told Dezeen. “That idea suddenly crossed my mind while working on the project, so the idea was developed. Usually, it is used as a general clock. The object itself is intended to be inconspicuous in life—however, in case of emergency, it can be easily opened.”
