Mobile Game Educates Visitors About This Brazilian Art Museum
A mobile app turns the São Paulo train system into a scoreboard for museum trivia
The Pinacoteca art gallery in São Paulo, Brazil tapped F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi to gamify the trip to the museum. PinaTrilhos is a mobile experience that begins at the train station closest to the player and ends with the arrival at Pinacoteca.
The mechanics are simple. First, the player must take a photo of the station signboard closest to them, which helps the app generate the best route to the Pinacoteca station. But before the player can advance, they must click a stack of cards and answer a true-or-false question about artwork at Pinacoteca. Each time they get a right answer, they move closer to the final station. While arriving at the museum will serve as the top prize for the game, users of the app will be treated to interesting facts about the artwork along the way.
The game is available for iPhone and Android, but a game board can also be printed and played offline.
