Pepsi looks to recapture former days of glory by taking viewers down memory lane in its Super Bowl ad

Pepsi went retro for the Super Bowl with its “This is the Pepsi” ad. The 30-second spot takes viewers on a trip down memory lane, with nods at Pepsi’s most iconic references throughout the years. From Michael Jackson to Britney Spears, the soda company used the moment to remind viewers that Pepsi has been a fixture in pop culture for decades.

According to Ad Age, this video begins a yearlong campaign called “Pepsi Generations” that aims to regain momentum using the brand’s storied history. Sales have been slumping lately, and this is definitely an attempt to bring back Pepsi’s peak moments, using a little nostalgia to get its audience there.
