Legendary graphic designer Susan Kare used her expertise in computer icons to brand a coffee shop at Pinterest's San Francisco headquarters

Susan Kare, the designer behind the classic Apple smiling computer icon, designed a coffee shop in Pinterest’s San Francisco headquarters. Though Kare has worked in the graphic design industry for decades, The Point is her first physical project. Along with Kare, the design team for The Point consisted completely of female Pinterest employees. In addition to a minimalist logo inspired by Pinterest’s pin, save and post functions, Kare designed coffee mugs and cups, enamel pins and stickers for the shop.

The Point’s ordering system is completely automated, with customers placing orders through an iPad for specially trained baristas to complete. All of the merchandise designed by Kare is not available online, but can be purchased on site at the cafe. Limiting the distribution of the products to one location turns The Point into more than just a coffee shop—it’s something of an exclusive boutique where customers can shop for Kare's trinkets and grab a cup of coffee.

A slideshow of photos from the cafe can be viewed on Business Insider.
