The space uses retailing to support WeWork members, featuring products like snacks, apparel, travel items and more created by the We community; a Bluestone Lane cafe; and 100 seats at pay-as-you-go pricing to appeal to new customers

The We Company recently debuted a new format workspace aimed at workers in need of a desk for a day or less. Made by We is its most public project to date, encompassing a retail shop, cafe and bookable co-working space. It is located a few blocks south of the Flatiron building in one of New York CIty's trendiest neighborhoods.

The space occupies the ground floor of a historic building on the northeast corner of Broadway and 20th Street. Unlike most other WeWork location that are hidden away within office buildings, Made by We is wrapped with windows, allowing the whole interior space to be seen from the outside. The company intends for the location to serve as a “new town square,” or an accessible IRL forum for people to work and meet.

Just inside the entry doors is the retail space featuring floor-to-ceiling shelving and housing a collage of apparel, products and graphics. The items for sale are a mix of WeWork branded merch and products created by WeWork members. One of the goals of the retail space is to give member brands a physical store presence that otherwise might be unaffordable.

Dividing the retail and work space is a cafe counter operated by Australian-influenced hospitality and lifestyle brand Bluestone Lane.

The gateway into the workspace is through a check-in desk. The space can accommodate walk-ins or take reservations placed in advance online. Seats are priced either by the minute or at a day rate.

The workspace has a capacity for 100 people and includes a mix of formal shared desks and casual lounge seating.

Beyond the desk space, Made by We has conference rooms that can accommodate groups of four-ten people. Each is fitted with large display monitors for showing presentations.

Made by We's Flatiron location advantage is there aren't many coffee shops close by suitable for working at. It is also a prime spot to catch short-stay business people in town for meetings in the area. It might also be that WeWork is testing a potential shorter-term, ‘lite' version of its membership spaces that skips the amenities in favor of a focused-budget friendly work environment, enabling greater accessibility and encouraging new customers.
