Announcing the PSFK Global Cool Hunt challenge using
CLICK. FLICK. WIN.
What do you think is cool? Maybe it’s an object, an event, someone you know. Well PSFK wants to check it out!
And now we can – by launching the PSFK Cool Hunt On Flickr.
Yeah, so we wanted to set up a monthly competition to see what’s cool around the world. Why? Well let’s just say we’re extremely nosey. And it sounded like fun when we came up with the idea the other day (See some of the pics already submitted here).
How You Enter
- You add you pictures to the PSFK GLOBAL COOL HUNT group on Flickr with the required tags
- Repeat (1)
So the basics…
We’re looking for 2 kinds of pic:
- A general pic of something you think is cool/hot/wow/’goin’ on’ – as specific or abstract as you want
- A pic about a specific theme that we choose each month – this month it’s My Cool Jeans
How it works:
- You upload an image to Flickr
- When you upload the pic you need to Tag it with PSFK and the city/place you took it and the country – if you are entering it for this month’s theme also tag it with mycooljeans. Some description about what it is we’re looking at and why you like it would be helpful too.
- So for example – when I uploaded this pic to Flickr, I added the tags ‘PSFK’ ‘philadelphia’ ‘usa’ and then wrote why I liked it. I added a couple of other tags (’ad’ and ’sign’) just for the hell of it.
- You make sure you add it to the PSFK GLOBAL COOL HUNT group
- You can upload as many images as you want
Why you should join in:
- Why the PSFK not? We’re doing this for the hell of it.
- The photos are going to be judged by a top notch photographer
- And – there are prizes!!
Prizes?! What are the prizes?
- Piers and Simon have dug into their pockets to stump up for four prizes. There will be a prize for the best cool hunt scoop and a prize for the best photographic style for both the general cool hunt and the theme specific cool hunt.
- The prize: Each winner gets to choose either
- any ‘cool’ item published on Josh Spear’s Pulse Of Cool in April available for sale and to the value of $100 (inc. postage to anywhere in the world)
- or a Flickr Annual Pro Account
- or a pair of Simon’s London Denim Jeans
- Why so many choices of prize? We just wanted to make sure the PSFK Cool Hunt would offer something for everybody.
- Psst! Want to offer a prize for next month’s PSFK Cool Hunt? Email Piers
The Judges
- Francis Hills shoots celebrity, fashion and beauty images from his Manhattan studio with his Hasselblad H1. He is a digital photography evangelist shooting folk like Willem Defoe, The Bravery and Alan Cumming and his work has appeared in lots of posh mags. He will judge the photography.
- The Fold are a New York based underground arts and design studio responsible for some of the most innovative design and art direction from the East Coast. They will judge the best ’spots’.
Anything Else?
The winners will be published on the PSFK site – and anywhere else we can get a mention.
You agree by the terms of the competition below.
More info / chat to other participants / other stuff : Check out the Flickr group we set up: http://www.flickr.com/groups/psfkcoolhunt/ – and you can check out my stuff, Guy, on Flickr here.
Some Rules To PSFK Cool Hunt On Flickr
- We can change the rules anytime we want but there will always be winners.
- If someone comes along with better items to offer you guys as prizes we retain the right to change them, giving notice on this page.
- No PSFK + CITY/LOCATION + COUNTRY tags, no entry
- If someone starts dicking us about we’ll disqualify them from the competition – e.g. some idiot repetitively and deliberately adds their company’s products to the Flickr site.
- By entering (see Rule 3), the participant grants PSFK permission to use your image to promote the PSFK Cool Hunt on our site, in press releases – and we can put it in PSFK Cool Hunt review documents.
- No images will be sold or used in stuff like advertising (except for PSFK Cool Hunt promotion) – if anyone does approach us about an image, we will pass the lead onto the person who took the shot.
- The judge is subject to change. You know how busy these folk can get.
- Each month we will review prizes and judges.
- If this all starts to become a pain, e.g. somehow we get sued, we can close the competition down at any time with no winners. We hope that will never happen.
- The competition is open to anyone who contributes to PSFK. Piers and Simon can’t win.
- It’s not our fault if the prize you saw on the Josh Spear’s site turns out to be illegal in your country.
- It’s for fun. Remember that.
- Why are you reading this? You should be uploading your shots to Flickr.
