Graphex 2006: The Best of Visual Design in Canada

Graphex '06Five of the world’s most respected authorities on communication design will be in Vancouver, BC for the launch of Graphex 2006 National Design Competition. Rick Poynor (founder of Eye Magazine, London, UK), Min Wang (Image & Identity Expert for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Beijing, China), Debbie Millman (President of Design at Sterling Brands, New York, USA), Tan Le (Creative Director of Design at WongDoody, Seattle, USA) and Robert Sarner (Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Roots Canada, Toronto, Canada) will serve as judges in this important event. Hosted by the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC), Graphex is a Canada-wide competition open to to all designers, art directors, design firms, ad agencies, marketing and communications firms with this year’s theme of “Looking for the Canadian in Design”.


On Friday, November 18, the five judges will give keynote speeches and participate in an informative and lively panel discussion on regionalism in design, Canadianism, and what they might expect in Canadian design…among other topics. Each judge will give a brief presentation of their work or their outlook on design prior to the dicsussion, and questions will be welcome from the floor. This event will mark the launch of GDC Graphex ‘06 National Design Awards Competition and be a unique experience for the Vancouver design community – a ‘must see’ for students and professionals alike.
