As the world becomes a much smaller place and all of us travel further and more often, the frustration of just being able to order a beer in the language of the country we’re visiting is just not good enough.

The BBC are offering free online language courses for all aspiring linguists.  Languages covered are French, Spanish, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Portugese, Greek, plus they have a ‘quick fix‘ menu of printable holiday phrases with audio and mp3 downloads for a whole host of other languages (including my father-tongue – Welsh).

Now there’s no excuse!
