Finally…Google Maps adds Metro Stops

It’s about time!  Google Maps has finally included subway stops on their map.  They’ve also included prominent buildings as well as common nicknames for various streets.  A much needed update!

Next step: Include directions that take into account public transportation.  HopStop may have already done it, but we still prefer Google Maps…the satelite function is just too cool.

  1. I believe they do if you live in one of the lucky cities:

    http://www.google.com/transit

If not, talk to your transit system about upgrading for compatibility

  2. Coupla thoughts: If the mini-map shown is accurate, the next step they MUST take is to ID the individual lines using the MTA’s colored symbols & numbers.

That said, if Google can build a *good* routing/mapping tool that treats transit as one component of multimodal travel … they will have taken another step in their quest to rule the world. Non-evilly, of course.
