by Guy Brighton

B.Son, or Rebecca Beeson, is an upstart label from San Fransisco specializing in understated yet elegant basics. They will be showing at the Capsule Show in New York on July 23/34. They’ve got summer covered with amazingly breathable fabrics; but short sleeve hoodies and exquisitely cut U-neck Ts aren’t all they offer. The new season promises stepped-up outwear in an array of Japanese inspired cuts and materials. We decided to drop B.Son a line…

Brandon Scott, designer, sounds off:

PSFK: Why did you start designing?

Brandon Scott: Because I couldn’t afford the clothing that I wanted.

How did you get involved with Capsule?

Because BPMW knows what’s up with men’s fashion.

What’s the inspiration/idea/theme behind this season?

“The Year of Bauhaus” and that’s all I’m gonna give ya…

What would you be doing if you weren’t designing?

Selling it.

What do you usually turn to for inspiration?

Japanese Fashion Mags.

What other designers/artists (of any kind) do you admire and why?

Big fan of Issey Miyake.

What film/television has been inspiring you lately?

Current T.V.

How does music influence your design process?

I think a lot about short films that incorporate our designs into each song that evokes emotion out of me.

What kind of music would you say “fits” your brand, if any?

The thing about any art form is incorporating the best of everything that works with your ideas.

What are you listening to at the moment?

I have really been into Hot Chip.

Where’s the most exciting music coming from right now and why?

Honestly for me it comes from the mix cd’s that my dj friends in L.A. give me.

What was the last show you went to?

ESG.

If you could go back in time five years and give yourself some advice, what would it be?

Don’t use a credit card for fun.

Can’t wait for the Capsule Show? Snatch up some B.Son goodness at Active Endeavors.
