Google is hoping to boost the number of cool applications on the web with Google App Engine. The tech company have launched an open application development platform that they hope will lead to more apps and users on the internet. Google says that its App Engine is a way to run web applications on Google Infrastructure – they say it’s going to help developers start and scale their applications faster.

In the above video, Google says that it’s difficult to deploy a web application – you have to code it, host it on a paid-for server, maintain it and then scale it as it grows. Google says that it wants to do away with these hassles by making it easier.
