We saw a rather odd sight this morning. A number of Chinese tourists(?) all lined up outside the Apple store. The staff inside said they were going to buy the iPhone but we couldn’t work out why they weren’t inside buying the phones already. We asked if there was going to be a new phone launched today and the staff said no.

We were sent an email from an insider who says:
“These people come to I assume all three store just about everyday in anticipation of a new shipment. They buy the maximum per person. They are all re-sold via grey market or shipped elsewhere.
At least twice in one store fights / arguments have occurred.”

I saw this at the 14th St. store last week, too.

I really think that they are waiting to use the computers for news and possibly email their families in China after the earthquake…

Well, considering that our dollar is crap, they are probably getting a steal. And re-selling.
