We’ve talked about local media recently – with the idea of 10,000 niche newspapers and our interview with John Geraci from local news aggregator Outside.in. This rekindled interest in local media is spreading. The Huffington Post has just announced plans to expand into local news across the US. A site focusing on Chicago will roll out first, followed by a dozen more. The sites will aggregate news, sports, crime, arts and business news from different local sources including bloggers.

There is a good discussion – essentially about ethics of citizen journalists – with the editor of the Guardian and Ariana Huffington.
Should a citizen journalist disclose the fact, just as a journalist for any newspaper has to? Yes.
Would Mayhill Fowler have got the Clinton ’scoop’ on the rope-line if she had? No.
