Say Goodbye To Phone Books

Even though physical phone book usage is on the decline, phone companies continue to print and deliver 540 million unsolicited directories a year. In our era of easily accessible online information, you would think they would get the hint. But no, the lucrative $13.58B phone book business keeps chugging along, wasting paper, space and electricity.

To stop this madness, check out Yellow Pages Go Green. It’s like a do not call list for phone books. The service claims to be able to cease unwanted phone book deliveries to your house when you sign up.

  1. When I first met Piers this was a big topic of consternation – I’m glad it still is!

Yellow Pages are so desperate – they’ve essentially turned themselves into big loto tickets with their recent campaigns.

    Their day is done.

  2. What the folks at YellowPagesGoesGreen are doing is great stuff. Most likely will NOT stop the Yellow Pages from arriving on your doorstep. At least not yet. But, if you no longer want the Yellow Pages delivered – definitely sign up with these guys.

The best way to stop the insanity is call the publishers direct. I wrote a post about it here: http://yousnoozeyoulose.com/2008/08/11/yellow-pages-love-em-or-hate-em/
