Matt Jones, Co-Founder of Dopplr, will be speaking at our Good Ideas in Mobile panel at the PSFK Good Ideas Salon London. Along with Dan Hon of Six to Start and Mike Butcher, they will discuss what opportunities are developing at the intersection of mobile, location, and the web.
First, who are you and what do you do?
I’m a designer, who works with digital and physical things—and, increasingly, excitingly—things that can’t make up their mind which they are. I’m also the co-founder and designer of Dopplr.com.
You’ll be sharing your thoughts at our Good Ideas in Mobile panel. In one paragraph, can you explain what themes and ideas you hope to touch upon during the discussion?
I’m hoping we’ll get beyond the same tired old scenarios that mobile carriers, manufacturers and advertisers have been pushing for years, of walking past a pizza place and getting a voucher appearing on your mobile phone—and look more at what happens when the internet gets in the air and the soil and the city. How that changes it and us. What happens when hard things like cities become more like software, or whether they always were like that and were waiting for us to catch-up with them.

Thanks Matt!
