Artwork That Ideas Can Buy

Artwork That Ideas Can Buy

By Dan Gould on June 11, 2009

London based Wilkinson Gallery is hosting  Artworks That Ideas Can Buy, a project by Italian artist Cesare Pietroiusti through July 2009.

All the artworks exhibited in the show are for sale, but the public can’t buy them with money. Instead, valuable and original ideas can be exchanged for the art.

Visitors are invited to leave comments, opinions, proposals, and suggestions related to any of the artworks in the show. Similarly to a silent auction, visitors’ ideas are collected in a transparent box in the space. It’s also possible to email ideas to ideascanbuy@wilkinsongallery.com.

At the end of the exhibition all the envelopes will be opened and the visitors’ ideas made public. The artists will then decide if any of the visitors’ proposed ideas equate to the value of their exhibited artwork, and if so, the author of the idea will receive the artwork in exchange for their idea, without paying any money.
