This year sees the second journey of the floating ‘Swimming Cities’ art project from artists Swoon. The junk boats designed by the artist have been built in Turkey and are on their way across the Mediterranean docking and partying at every port. The website describes the project:
The Swimming Cities of Serenissima is a fleet of handmade boats and a crew of artists traveling the Adriatic Sea from Slovenia to Venice this May and June, 2009. We made art boats from junk and will be performing the dreamy story of a drifting metropolis during the Venice Biennale, a celebrated contemporary art exhibition.
How do the boats look? Hmmm, how does “Burning Man on Water” sound?
