EU Infrastructure has produced an interesting graphic describing what they view as the future of public transportation. It includes: Self Driving Cars, SkyTrans, Electric Bicycles, Mag-lev/air propelled trains, Moving sidewalks to replace pavement, Segways, Backpack helicopters and Zepplelins.
While some of these concepts are seemingly as far-fetched as the fabled flying car, they have all been realized to some degree. And although a few of the items leave us wondering at their true usefulness (do we really need ubiquitous moving sidewalks?), it’s exciting to see such diverse innovation happening in the public transportation realm.
