Pecha Kucha Plans “Global Wave” Of Inspiration For Haiti

By Piers Fawkes on February 19, 2010

On February 20th, the organizers behind idea sharing event Pecha Kucha plan a full day of online and offline presentations. Presenters at dozens of venues around the world each month have been sharing ideas in the ‘Pecha Kucha’ format where 20 slides are presented for 20 seconds each. Now, to raise funds and awareness for Haiti, the central team based in Japan are orchestrating 2,000 back to back presentations to 200,000 people with the aim to raise $1,000,000 for rebuilding Haiti.

Speaking to PSFK, founder Mark Dytham said that he hoped to create a global wave by getting organizers to host events in their cities and by broadcasting Skype Video calls of web-based presentations.
