PSFK Conference Speaker Interview: Steve Powers
Steve Powers will be one of the speakers at our upcoming PSFK Conference 2010, taking place on April 9th. Steve is a contemporary artist whose work reflects influences ranging from classic signage, commercial art and graffiti. He recently organized the A Love Letter For You mural project in Philadelphia.
PSFK talked with Steve to see what he’s been creating lately.
What are you working on right now?
I’m working on paintings, sending out signals, lighting trashcan fires, crooning doo-wop ballads, waiting my turn
What has been the most interesting response or reaction to your project?
Kids in the streets (and at least one jail) the world over applying the ideas in Love Letter to their own walls
What projects, people or ideas are currently inspiring your thinking these days?
Music, kids and adults that refuse to grow up.
What developing trend, idea or technology makes you most excited or hopeful for the future?
Basement nanotechnology.
