During our commute home last night, we spotted these ads for the Showtime series Nurse Jackie on the outside of this entire uptown 6 train. Given the print ads that already line the length of the waiting platform and cover most of the sight lines inside each car, this added real estate makes for quite an assault on the senses. Although we’ve seen previous marketing campaigns that blanket the interior of cars to create a cohesive (and potentially memorable) experience, the overall effect of this felt somewhat dissonant. And strategy aside, we’re just not sure how to feel about this extra competition for our attention. Suppose a lot depends on whether or not efforts like these help the MTA delay their decision to raise our fares again.
