Connected Home Appliances For Easy Energy Management

Carbon and Artefact Impact Series

Design firms Carbon Design and Artefact Group have collaborated to design the Impact series of connected home appliances, focused on at-a-glance energy management. The series includes the Impact Clock, Impact Dishwasher, and Impact Refrigerator, each of which are connected and monitored via mobile application. The Impact Fridge and Impact Dishwasher both indicate their energy efficiency through the use of a light bar; in the case of the fridge, the bar reflects the amount of energy required to keep the interior cool, diminishing quickly as the door is held open and replenishing slowly when the door is closed again.

The Impact Clock displays daily expenditure over time with a simple visualization, syncing with appliances to represent the home’s overall usage footprint over time.
