Urban Cycling Events This Weekend In New York City
If you are a hardcore urban cyclist or have an interest in bikes, this weekend in NYC will keep you busy. Throughout the weekend, Puma and Biomega will be celebrating the launch of their new line of urban bicycles at Puma City NY. The five new models ranging from the BMX inspired Pico to the Nevis urban cruiser aim to offer the next evolution in commuter bikes. Each model includes features directly aimed at solving some of the current problems with urban cycling. The Disko bike for instance features an integrated locking system in the frame of the bike. The intention is to simplify the commuting process by not having to carry a separate lock.
Puma has partnered with Hub Station and is offering free bike tune-ups and repairs this weekend at the South Street Seaport. The new line of urban bikes will also be available for test rides.
The Bicycle Film Festival is also taking place this weekend in NYC. The screenings range from the Spike Jonze produced ‘The Birth of Big Air’ documentary of Matt Hoffman showing tonight to the premier of ‘Empire’ on Sunday about the NYC fixed gear scene. There will also be an all day street party taking place in front of the Anthology Film Archives theater on Saturday featuring BMX and fixed-gear riding demos.
