Cobra iRadar Integrates iPhone & Car Radar Detectors

In another sign of the ongoing convergence of smart phones and vehicles, car radar detection manufacturer Cobra, has extended its line of radar detectors to integrate with the iPhone. The Cobra iRadar pairs a dash-mounted radar & laser detector with a specialized iPhone app via Bluetooth to deliver radar alerts, enable tracking, and augment trap detection with mapping of speed & red-light cameras. The app uses the phone’s GPS and the AURA database of verified traps & cameras to deliver a regularly-updated list of hazards to the device. The user can also manually log traps as they encounter them, building a personal database of maps & alerts.

The iRadar also allows the user to control all of the hardware settings on the paired radar device from the phone – another example of how smart phones are communicating more and more with the hardware in our lives.
