New Mobile App Gives Shoppers Real-Time Ethical Advice On Products

By Kyana Gordon on February 4, 2011

The Ethical Company Organisation’s best-selling Good Shopping Guide exposes ‘the good, bad and the ugly’ facts of the world’s leading brands. The new mobile app lets interested shoppers make real-time product comparison tables in relation to a company’s environmental, animal welfare and human rights record. The Good Shopping Guide features comprehensive research on over 700 famous brands in 72 product categories under headers like food & drink, travel, energy, and fashion. The Ethical Company Index provides an overall rating (across 15 different ethical criteria) to identify the best performing brands and corporations with an easy-view summary table showing key information within each product category. William Sankey, the Director of the Ethical Company Organisation adds:

“Our readers asked us to develop a comprehensive comparison tool they could take into the shops. We could only have dreamed of such a neat mobile tool when we printed the first, painfully heavy, 350-page guide a decade or so ago.”

Available for use on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, The Good Shopping Guide: Ethical Shopping App in partnership with Friends of the Earth (who receive 10% of net revenue) comprises 10 years of research and is a must-have for any shopper looking to support the most ethical brands through their purchasing decisions.
