A group of mobile marketing experts share mobile tagging best practices and what we might expect to see in the future from advertisers and others using mobile tags.
During this year’s SXSW Interactive Festival, we hosted PSFK SALON AUSTIN at The Driskill Hotel. That afternoon we brought together leading thinkers in the field of mobile marketing with experts featured in PSFK’s Future of Mobile Tagging report. We’re posting video coverage of the event here for all those who were unable to attend or would like to revisit the Salon’s lively discussion.
Marketers are using mobile technology to enhance consumer engagement at each stage of the purchase path. Salon participants discussed themes that are emerging around the use of mobile tags and other innovations in mobile marketing. The second panel of this year’s PSFK SALON AUSTIN included panelists John Puterbaugh, CEO, Nellymoser; Matthew Ray, Creative Technology Director, Crispin Porter + Bogusky; Nik Badminton, Director of Digital Strategy, Tribal DDB; Mark Mulhern, Group Account Director, JWT; and Robin Lanahan, Director of Marketing, Microsoft Tag Creative Lab, Startup Business Group at Microsoft. The discussion was moderated by Piers Fawkes, founder of PSFK.
The panel discussion explores the future of mobile tagging, including its aesthetic development and positioning in ads. The group discusses the nearly boundless data collection capabilities that mobile tags afford, and how brands can use this data stream to achieve new creative ends. They also discuss best practices for mobile tags, and point to particularly effective and ineffective uses of the technology.
