Toyota Turns Prius Into A Roller Coaster Cart

Engineering and design group Deeplocal lent Toyota a hand for the latest project in the car manufacturer’s ‘Ideas for Good’ series. The team stripped down a Prius and used the engine, wiring harness, batteries and the Hybrid Synergy Drive system in a custom-designed cart on a 70ft in-house roller coaster track.

The cart reached speeds of approximately 15mph after a 10ft drop and was able to generate 6,000 watts of power. They demonstrated the power by using it to light LED bulb along the track and on the cart and also a theme park light display. Take a look at the video below to see it in action.
