Darling, Will You Marry Me Using This AutoWed Machine? [Video]

By Kat Popiel on June 27, 2011

Romance might have died but weddings still occur even in this recession. The AutoWed Machine by British designers Concept Shed is part parking meter, part Cadillac and part cathedral. Built in Detroit, Michigan using 300 bespoke parts including plywood and drainpipe, the AutoWed  lets couples of every sexual orientation get involved: Press 1 for heterosexual, 2 for gay, 3 for lesbian, button 4 even helps you and your BFF ‘tie the knot!’ There’s an automated wedding march soundtrack, plastic rings, personalized receipt and a divorce button to revert the deal (including a 10% discount). This humorous love machine might add further debate to the mechanical aspects of the marriage institution already being bandied back and forth, but certainly reminds us that marriage isn’t a dying ceremony, even if comes from a vending machine.
