Nintendo Showcases Wii U Controller At E3 2011

Nintendo reveals a striking new controller for the Wii at the E3 2011 in Los Angeles.

Completing the triad of gaming leaders that revealed their best cards yet at the E3 2011, in Los Angeles, Nintendo gives us a first glimpse of a new controller for the Wii, dubbed the “Wii U.” The Wii U comes with a 6.2-inch touchscreen, microphone, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, dual analog controls, two shoulder buttons and two triggers, a front-facing camera, and a stylus. While not designed to be a ‘portable gaming machine’ as Satoru Iwata, president and CEO of Nintendo notes, the Wii U allows gaming and video chatting even in the absence of a television.
