Xbox To Introduce Interactive In-Game Ads For Kinect

By Emma Hutchings on June 22, 2011

Microsoft has developed a new set of advertising tools called NUads, an interactive advertising platform that will let Xbox Kinect users interact with video and in-game adverts. NUads is short for Natural User-interface ads and they will implement the system’s voice and motion controls so that gamers can learn more about products and share information with others. When they see an ad, Kinect users will be able to say phrases like “Xbox Tweet”, “Xbox More” and “Xbox Near Me” to post on social networks, receive an email with more info and find out the location of the nearest retailer. They will also be able to vote on a topic such as their favorite pizza topping by motioning with their hand.

These NUads are due to be presented to advertisers at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, with gamers getting their first glimpse of the new features sometime next spring.
