A new Kickstarter campaign will create a design project using city maps.
Matt Tomasulo is a grad student in City & Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture at UNC Chapel Hill and NC State. He founded CityFabric, a civic-minded design and apparel company that uses figuregrounds (maps used in city planning and architecture). These figureground maps for specific cities are displayed on a ‘Wear You Live’ line of t-shirts, bags, pillows and prints in the hope of ‘creating unique ways for anyone to talk about their place.’ Starting up just last year, printing t-shirts to sell at a local arts market, the small business is now expanding to include more city designs and it has a campaign on Kickstarter to raise $13,000.
