Beauty Sells: Makeup Subscription Startup Earns $10.5M In Initial Investments

Birchbox, the makeup subscription startup, announced $10.5M in earnings at the close of its first round of funding.

Birchbox, an online makeup distributor, has proudly announced its earnings of $10.5M after one round of funding. The company was launched by Katia Beauchamp and Hayley Barna last year. Funding was led by Accel Partners, and followed by First Round Capital, Consigliere, Lerer Ventures, Harrison Metal, Forerunner Ventures, Standford University Endowment. Individuals investors include  Sam Lessin, Gary Vaynerchuck, Dave Morin, and Andy Dunn.

 

With a $10 monthly subscription, members of Birchbox receive a parcel containing a minimum of four makeup or toiletries samples from various companies every month. Satisfied clients can choose to buy the full size of the samples from the Birchbox website to earn points for other bonuses. To date, there are more than 45,000 customers subscribed to Birchbox and its services.
