Booktrack is a startup that seeks to revolutionize the reading experience through the creation of a whole new genre of e-books. The company’s technology pairs music scores and sound effects with text, automatically paced to the user’s reading speed, generating a synchronized soundtrack for e-books. Currently Booktrack is compatible with the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, with plans to expand into Android apps. Paul Cameron, Booktrack’s co-founder and CEO explains the technology:

Tens of millions of commuters around the world listen to a playlist that’s disconnected from what they’re reading—perhaps a sad song with an upbeat story. Now they can replicate a movie-like sound experience and fundamentally transform their reading experience.

Check out a demo of the first synchronized soundtrack fully integrated in a new novel, ‘The Power of Six’ by Pittacus Lore (James Frey), published by HarperCollins Children’s Books.
