Clothing Brand’s Minimal Backpack Proves Less Is More

Clothing Brand’s Minimal Backpack Proves Less Is More

By Kyana Gordon on December 12, 2011

Do not be fooled by the Minimal backpack’s exceedingly simple appearance, as it can be both filled to the brim with bricks and float away tied to a pair of balloons. Having made its mark with multi-purpose cycling pants and a full menswear range, New York collective, Outlier partnered with Hyperlite Mountain Gear, using the nonwoven fiber, Dyneema to create tough, 100% waterproof bags which they say are 10x stronger than steel.

As with all of the brand’s previous product releases, fabric was integral to the backpack’s construction. Other features include roll top closure, tape seams, and the bag can be compressed to fit inside a jacket pocket. Not to our surprise, the initial run has completely sold-out but pre-order for the next round in January.
