Which Crowdsourced Ideas Did Starbucks Bring To Market?
Starbucks has been running the My Starbucks Idea platform for almost three years now. Although we were a little skeptical about the project at first, it seems like it clearly engaged their customers and managed to create a number of product and service improvements to the coffee (and tea and cakes) retailer. The site now has 100,000 idea submissions and a few of those got considered at the Seattle based headquarters and brought to market.
Here’s some of the successes for My Starbucks Idea:
- To NORWAY(in-the-works)
- Continuing the key chain card(launched)
- Free Drink with Purchase of Reusable Cup(launched)
- Corporate logo’d cards(launched)
- Starbucks Card Mobile CANADA(launched)
- Tall Reusable Cold Cup Tumblers!!(launched)
- Petite Cake Pops – new flavors?(launched)
- Bring back Christmas Blend Espresso Roast!(launched)
- 25oz Bag of Christmas/Holiday Blend(launched)
- Sugar free syrups(launched)
- Skinny mocha(launched)
- K-Cups Please(launched)
As you can see – most of this is around existing or past product, a little about service but not much about retail environment. In the next few weeks, we’ll be speaking to Starbucks about the project and how successful it was at steering longer term innovation in the company.
