Top Five Stories We’re Watching At The 2012 Detroit Auto Show

By Dave Pinter on January 6, 2012

The opening of the Detroit Auto Show is just a few days away and PSFK will be covering all the action from the media days on Monday and Tuesday of next week. There’s already been buzz around the internet for more than a month now about what new vehicles and technologies will be debuting at the show. Here’s  a preview of five stories we’re particularly keen on following.

Lexus has already leaked photos of the  Lexus LF-LC Sports Coupe Concept which they will formally debut on Monday. The concept will be hybrid powered and represent the new styling direction for the brand.

Scion will be debuting a new show stand they are calling the ‘Thunderdome’ Experience. Gone is the ‘rack’ display pictured above. The new stand will be dominated by a 15′ tall LED display structure. Visitors will also get to check out Scion sX – an award-winning, immersive guest experience that features branded content, user participation, and information sharing.

Smart will debut the For-Us Pickup Concept which is an all electric vehicle. The bed can be used for cargo or as storage for EV bikes which can be recharged directly from the pickup’s batteries.

Volkswagen will debut some sort of mystery electric concept vehicle.

Chevy also has a mystery concept to unveil. Jalopnik speculates it might be a modern revival of the Chevelle muscle car.

Check back on Monday and Tuesday for updates.
