A clever green initiative to upscale waste into useful items.
Instead of taking down outdoor ads and shipping them to landfills, Chevrolet has decided to upcycle them into functional bags. Outdoor vinyl ads from billboards, transit shelters, and bus stations are combined with recycled seat belts and bicycle inner tubes to create trendy messenger bags, latptop sleeves and over-sized totes.
The clever idea is a result of one of the biggest media buys in Chevrolet Canada’s history, which saw dozens of outdoor advertisement go up as part of the Cruze campaign launch in 2010. Turning redundant ads into useful everyday items is part of Chevrolet’s green initiative ‘Driving Our World Forward’.
