Makego builds on the growing trend of transforming your mobile device into a toy to play with. British designer Chris O’Shea’s $1.99 app turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a vehicle you can drive around.

It encourages fun, open ended collaborative play between parent and child. Combining creativity and imagination with the virtual world on screen. Select your vehicle within Makego, then interact with the drivers and their world through animations and sound.

There are three vehicles to choose from, with more coming soon. The race car has motion-activated engine noises, a turbo boost selector, speedometer and petrol gauge, and you can change the car’s paint color and refuel it after you’ve raced around.

The ice-cream truck lets you serve customers, put the money in the till and change the musical jingle to draw people’s attention. The river boat lets you drift down waterways, feeding bread to hungry ducks and fixing holes using a hammer when you find a leak. Check out the video below:
