Platform Recommends Music By Tracking Artist Influence

By Aziz Ali on February 10, 2012

There’s no limit to the ways in which fans can discover music. Music Bloodline takes an interesting approach to discovery by cataloging artists according to their musical influences, thus providing a comprehensive historical perspective on music. The site also features musician bios, discographies, top tracks, and links to Spotify and Grooveshark.

The platform was developed by Massachusetts-based Marc Neuwirth, who has created a simple interface where an artist is sandwiched between two columns: music that influenced them and music they’ve influenced. The discovery process is more self-directed and less dependent on a recommendations algorithm that attempts to understand a fan’s personal taste or a way or a scientific way of analyzing an artist’s sound.
