Stitcher presents a new way to share news and spoken stories that acknowledge the large late-20s an over user base.
Stitcher is a Pandora-like service for on-demand news shows and podcasts that was initially built for iPhone and iPad users. Recent developments allow for the app to now be integrated into Facebook’s Timeline.
The app enables Facebook users to tune in to shows and share what they’re listening to with their friends in real-time. Targeted toward an older demographic, the service is a subtle reflection of Facebook’s aging user base. CNET quoted Stitcher’s CEO Noah Shanok saying:
Though younger Facebook users may look more to services like Spotify, for older members, there is plenty of interest in news.
Ultimately, Stitcher wants to connect news and information junkies to their sources, but they also want to provide a way for users to discover new shows and drive growth to Stitcher by leveraging the massive Facebook network through sharing.
