Plastic Pop-Up Bar Built From Old Recycled Tubing [Pics]

Plastic Pop-Up Bar Built From Old Recycled Tubing [Pics]

Temporary structure in Portugal is wrapped in a textural coating of the ubiquitous local construction material.

Emma Hutchings

The Bluetube Bar was built by the Portuguese design collective DOSE for the Queima das Fitas do Porto festival. Made from low-cost materials, the temporary outdoor structure is wrapped in the blue tubing commonly used for construction work. The design inspires other structures made from low-cost materials, which could be reclaimed or recycled, and the tubing also causes the pop-up bar to emit interesting light effects at night as it is illuminated from within.
