For those who like to drink beer out of a glass, the Kinkajou Kickstarter project can make cups and vases from otherwise useless glass bottles.
DIY hipsters, rejoice. A new way to reuse and repurpose all those craft beer bottles has been funded on Kickstarter. The Kinkajou cutter turns any glass bottle into a safe drinking glass with three easy steps.
Basically a two-part plastic ring with Lego wheels and a cutter inside, the Kinkajou creates an even score line around a bottle that you then break using hot water. The break is clean and without fractures, but needs to be sanded down. Any kind of glass bottle can be cut at any height, allowing for vases, cups, tumblers, shot glasses, normal glasses, coasters, or anything cylindrical really.
Kinkajou’s creator Patrick Lehoux is an internet entrepreneur who wanted to create something real and tangible. He named his creation after a South American mammal with large teeth and this new way to reuse glass bottles, which aren’t always properly recycled in America, is sure to be a hit among the environmentally-minded, DIY fans.
