A Spanish hotel allows registered guests to pay for services with nothing more than their fingers.
Spain’s Ibiza Hotel – Ushuaïa Beach introduces the world’s first fingerprint payment system. When guests arrive at the hotel, they are prompted to register one or more credit cards with their unique fingerprints, enabling them to pay for foods and services by scanning their fingers on a biometric reader. Developed by PayTouch, a Barcelona-based payment provider, the technology is said to only take five seconds, with credit card verifications done in real time.
The Ibiza Hotel had introduced RFID payment methods last year for the convenience of its guests. The RFID technology. which allowed guests to pay and share content on social networks, was met with great success as the hotel’s Facebook page saw an increase of over 60,000 new ‘likes’. The new fingerprint system is being deployed throughout the hotel’s bars, restaurants, and club area.
