Virtual Museum Showcases 130 Years Of Nursing Stories & Artifacts
RDNS Reflections is an interactive site with interviews and photos from the nursing service in Australia.
Web design firm Lava has created a customized and interactive online virtual museum called RDNS Reflections for the Royal District Nursing Service in Australia, which showcases an extensive archive of nurses’ stories, photos, printed materials and classic uniforms collected over thirteen decades.
RDNS wanted to fully utilize these resources and so Lava created this online museum. It’s visual style and animations give the impression of sifting through an old history book, and it has distinct colors and illustrations associated with each decade and theme.
Lava created a logical and seamless user experience, which offers simple navigations and presents the media content in a fluid way. The scanned images (such as photos or journal extracts), audio and video were organized and optimized for presentation on the Reflections site. A representative from RDNS was selected to provide a video introduction to the museum and audio voice-overs were created for each decade and theme, which act like a virtual tour guide as the user navigates throughout Reflections.
