The Billionaire Shop offers nothing under €10,000.
For the person who has everything, you might want to buy them a gift voucher to The Billionaire Shop. As the name suggests, this isn’t your ordinary online store. The “cheapest” item you can buy is a €14,700 Ducati motorbike. Other luxury products include a €13.7 million helicopter; a €72.1 million yacht; a €59 million luxury real estate; and for €59.5 million you can buy yourself your very own BOEING business jet.
The Billionaire Shop was created by Multilotto.com, a gambling company based in Sweden. The shop claims that the total value of all products in its webshop is close to 1.6 billion USD.
Tim Holmberg, Head of the Billionaire Shop, explained the inspiration behind the site:
Gambling companies have always been there for the customers up until the payout of the winning. We wanted to take it one step further and offer our winners help to find fun and different ways to spend their money. Gambling companies don’t always take care of the winners by offering advice on how to spend the money. We wanted to change that.
The site lets anyone ‘purchase’ a McLaren MP4-12C or a pent house in Paris by just providing an address (no credit card information is exchanged)– but for most customers, the purchase is only a clever marketing stunt (because after all, you are providing an email address for future communications). You’ll get a ‘confirmation’ email for your purchase and then a follow-up email to see if you’re really interested- and have the necessary funds- to purchase your luxury item.
Even if you don’t have the money to purchase the items, it’s fun to browse the site– as evidenced by its virility. When PSFK spoke to Stefan Ronge of Deportivo, the creative shop behind The Billionaire Shop, we learned that over 200,000 unique visitors from 165 countries have ‘shopped’ at The Billionaire Shop in just 3 days.
