Designed by In-Tenta Creative Design Group out of Barcelona, DROP is a portable one-room hotel that can be placed at any location with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.
The cylindrical structure is built of modular wood and steel elements with a skylight running it’s length between two large bubble windows at either end that can be fully opened in order to further remove the separation between guest and nature.
Aside from the connected deck, the shape of the room allows only a small amount of the structure to actually rest on the ground. Narrow photo-voltaic solar panels on the roof provide electricity, and a rain catching system is built into the walls to gather water for the bathroom.
While still only a concept design, DROP has been chosen by architecture firm Urban Square for production and commercialization which means that these ec0-friendly micro-hotels may one day be a reality.
