EyeVerify is a security software that allows users to access their smartphone just by looking at it. The software identifies individuals by their “eyeprints” and claims that the method is as accurate as a fingerprint or iris scan.
To unlock your phone using EyeVerify, you simply look into your phone’s camera and either look to the left or right. The software processes the image and matches that against an eyeprint that is already stored on the phone.
Toby Rush, CEO and founder of EyeVerify, explains that the software can tell the difference between a real person and an image of a person. It could be used to prevent unauthorized access to private data and information on the phone. Currently, the prototype of EyeVerify is being improved upon by Purdue University researchers to improve its accuracy.
